Advocating on Obesity 2021 Online Workshop Series

The second edition of the EASO online advocacy workshop series is now underway.

EASO works to empower advocacy organisations to drive strong, measurable and sustainable actions that will increase attention towards obesity as a chronic relapsing disease. This workshop series draws on research and good practices from across Europe to explore how we can engage with policymakers and other stakeholders to shift the dial on obesity policy.

In 2020 we launched the first online edition of our Advocacy Online Workshop Series: a set of engaging, participatory workshops held on Zoom allowing participants to connect with colleagues from across our field. This year we have adapted the series with a new case study drawing on our colleagues’ experiences in Ireland.

The Online Workshop Series breaks the process of advocacy down into key steps, from identifying and prioritising the issues, to implementing an advocacy action plan. How can we better understand our audiences and tailor our messages to engage them and inspire their support?

Each workshop explores gives an overview from experts and draws on inspiring examples. Participants will have a chance to work in groups to test out advocacy tools for themselves, applying their own experience and skills to reflect collectively on new methods of engagement through a common case study.

Together with the EASO Advocacy Handbook, this workshop series will equip organisations working on obesity with the tools, resources and skills to develop and implement their own advocacy strategies and better fulfil their policy objectives.
