Global Obesity Forum 2025

EASO was represented at the recent Global Obesity Forum in New York by EASO President Professor Volkan Yumuk. The Global Obesity Forum 2025, co-hosted by the World Obesity Federation, the World Health Organization (WHO), and UNICEF under the Global Obesity Coalition, convened in New York ahead of the UN High-Level Meeting on Noncommunicable Diseases (NCDs) and Mental Health.

This important gathering brought together leaders, policymakers, and advocates united by a common goal: to address one of today’s most urgent global health and development challenges. With more than 1 billion people already living with obesity—and projections indicating that nearly 4 billion will be affected by obesity or overweight by 2035—the need for coordinated global action has never been greater.

The global group called on governments to honour their commitments and strengthen action on obesity prevention management and care — since obesity is a gateway to many other NCDs.
