On December 6, 2024, the very first DAG Young Scientist Academy took place at the Charité in Berlin under the organizational supervision of the DAG Young Scientist Group. Scientific ideas and projects from a total of 17 participants were exchanged and discussed. The scientific framework program was developed by Prof. Dr. Susanna Wiegand and Prof. Dr. Peter Kühnen.
Delegates had the opportunity to learn about novel aspects in the therapy of different types of obesity, and new training in topics such as ‘Effects of a Mediterranean diet on cardiometabolic risk factors in children with obesity’ (Prof. Dr. Susann Weihrauch-Blüher), ‘Metabolic and behavioral effects of high-fat diet and brain insulin resistance’ (Prof. Dr. André Kleinridders) and many others. In addition, participants were able to discuss research funding with experienced scientists and learn valuable tips around funding processes. The event was made possible in cooperation with EASO (European Association for the Study of Obesity) and with the support of Eli Lilly and Company. These partners and sponsors had no influence on the program or content of the Masterclass.
Given the success of this first edition, planning is underway for a second course, which will take place during the first half of 2025.
