Monday 29 September marks World Heart Day 2025, an important occasion to highlight the global impact of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), the world’s leading cause of death.
Organised by the World Heart Federation https://world-heart-federation.org/, the day calls for urgent collective action to improve heart health.
On World Heart Day, EASO reaffirms its commitment to advancing research, education, and policy to improve cardiovascular outcomes.
Obesity is a leading cause of cardiovascular diseases. In addition, people living with obesity face significantly higher risks of hypertension, coronary heart disease, stroke, and heart failure. Recognising this, the European Association for the Study of Obesity has been actively engaged in shaping EU-level policy. Most recently, EASO contributed to the European Commission Cardiovascular Health Plan, to ensure that obesity is recognised as a major driver of cardiovascular risk and that effective obesity management is integrated into broader strategies for prevention and care.
