EASO was pleased to join Health ministers and high-level delegates from the 53 Member States of the WHO European Region, as well as representatives of partner organizations and civil society in Copenhagen, Denmark, on 27 October for a WHO hosted event for non-State actors prior to RC75.
RC75 takes place 28–30 October 2025 and is the 75th session of the WHO Regional Committee for Europe (RC75).
The NSA event began with a formal address from WHO Director-General and WHO Regional Director for Europe. This first day also included discussions on the proposed second European Programme of Work, 2026–2030 (EPW2), a co-creation by Member States of the WHO European Region and WHO/Europe following extensive consultation. Its objectives are two-fold: to provide a strategic vision and health compass to inspire countries and partners tackling pressing health issues, and to set out a 5-year plan of action for WHO/Europe to advance progress on health. EPW2 will be put forward for adoption by Member States during the session.
Day two of RC75 covered governance issues, including Member State elections and nominations to the Standing Committee of the Regional Committee and WHO Executive Board. The programme budget and the WHO/Europe accountability report were also discussed.
Day three will focus on discussing technical topics, with 2 draft strategies to be considered for adoption:
- A healthy start for a healthy life: a strategy for child and adolescent health and well-being in the WHO European Region 2026–2030; and
- A strategy on harnessing innovation for public health in the WHO European Region 2025–2030.
The Regional Committee will also discuss a further strategy to be developed and finalized in 2026: Ageing is living: a strategy for promoting a lifetime of health and well-being in the WHO European Region 2026–2030.
