Introducing our newest Early Career Network Board member: welcome Emil Hidayatli

Emil Hidayatli, MD, PG CertOCM has been a practicing Obesity Care Specialist and clinical nutrition expert within a private medical center in Baku, Azerbaijan for more than 10 years and has a great passion for addressing obesity. Within his country, he has been campaigning to increase awareness around the issues surrounding obesity among professional and non-professional audiences, takes an active role in addressing obstacles around obesity management, and leads efforts to prevent and treat obesity — and ultimately to reduce obesity prevalance.

Emil Hidayatli graduated from Azerbaijan Medical University as physician – general practitioner and trained at the Department of Anesthesiology and Emergency Medicine during his internship. He has been working in public and private hospitals as medical doctor in ICU Department, Anesthesiology Department and Toxicology Department for more than 5 years.

In 2016, Emil Hidayatli became a Vice Chairman and leading trainer-lecturer in Academy of Nutrition, Dietetics and Obesity Prevention (ANDOP) and is a member via his national organisation membership in the World Obesity Federation (WOF), the European Association for the Study of Obesity (EASO) and the European Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism. In 2017, Emil completed post-graduate education at the College of Contemporary Health in the UK and earned a Post-Graduate Certificate in Obesity Care and Management (PGCertOCM). Emil holds an MBA degree from Azerbaijan State Economic University and take an active participation in launching lecturing in courses in “obesity management – from A to Z”, including the role and structure of adipose tissue and its endocrine functions, cytokines and chronic inflammation, multidisciplinary approaches in obesity management. A lifelong learner, Emil regularly joins lectures related to metabolic syndrome, insulin resistance, MAFLD and obesity in medical centers, schools and other organizations.

Emil is excited to become part of the EASO Early Career Network Board and looks forward to collaborating with researchers and HCPs with similar interests.
