In September 2026, colleagues from across Poland and around the international paediatric endocrinology community will gather in Katowice to celebrate an important milestone in European child health: the 50th anniversary of the Silesian Paediatric Endocrinology Centre, recognised as the oldest paediatric endocrinology centre in Poland.
Led by Professor Ewa Małecka-Tendera, the centre has played a pioneering role in advancing clinical care, education, and research in paediatric endocrinology over the past five decades. The anniversary celebrations will culminate in the two-day jubilee conference, “Personalised Approaches in Child Endocrinology – Celebrating 50 Years of Silesian Paediatric Endocrinology,” which will take place 17–18 September 2026.
The meeting will be both a scientific and celebratory occasion, bringing together clinicians, researchers, and early career investigators to reflect on the progress across the field while exploring future directions in personalised care.
The first day of the conference, conducted in Polish, will focus on practical workshops addressing everyday clinical challenges. Topics will include anthropometry and dysmorphology in paediatric endocrinology, communication with intersex and transgender patients, and management of childhood obesity.
The second day, to be held in English and delivered in a hybrid format, will feature a scientific symposium with distinguished international experts. Sessions will address contemporary topics including Differences in Sex Development (DSD), obesity and lipid disorders, growth disorders, and metabolic bone diseases. A dedicated Early Career Scientists’ Session will also provide opportunities for emerging researchers to present case reports and new research findings.
A major highlight of the programme will be a keynote lecture on obesity delivered by EASO COMs co-chair Melania Manco, whose work has contributed significantly to advancing understanding of childhood obesity and metabolic health.
The anniversary conference will be both a celebration of this institutional legacy and a forward-looking commitment to innovation, multidisciplinary collaboration, and continued development of personalised approaches in paediatric endocrinology.
