Rebecca Evans, United Kingdom

We are pleased to welcome Dr Rebecca Evans, Postdoctoral Researcher from the United Kingdom to the ECN Board.

Rebecca is a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Appetite and Obesity Research Group, Department of Psychology, Institute of Population Health at the University of Liverpool in the United Kingdom. She obtained her PhD in Psychology at the University of Liverpool in 2024 which she completed alongside her role as a Doctoral Academic Teacher.

Her PhD thesis explored the extent and nature of digital food marketing via videogame livestreaming platforms and its impact on young people’s eating behaviour and health. Her research predominantly focuses on public health, specifically environmental factors influencing eating behaviour. Since obtaining her PhD, Rebecca has continued to research the effects of food marketing on various aspects of eating and has evaluated public health policy approaches, such as nutrition labelling, to promote healthier diets. Rebecca has been awarded the Nutrition Society Prize and the EASO ECN Best Thesis Award for her research. She was also selected to deliver the British Science Festival Social Sciences Award Lecture in recognition of her research and public engagement contributions.

Rebecca collaborates with several networks, including the World Health Organisation Marketing and Early Career Networks, and the Digital Foodscapes Network. She is excited to become part of the EASO ECN Board to support fellow ECRs and to help sustain and grow key initiatives, ensuring that others can benefit from them as she has.
