In this webinar, Assistant Professor Eva Conceição, Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences, University of Porto, and a leading authority on eating disorders and obesity, will share the latest evidence on eating psychopathology following metabolic surgery.
This session will help early-career researchers and clinicians to:
- Gain an introduction to the key concepts and current evidence on eating problems after metabolic surgery
- Recognise how eating disorders and disordered eating behaviours can affect patient recovery and wellbeing
- Understand why the commonly used DSM-5 diagnostic criteria can be difficult to apply after surgery, and what this means for research and clinical practice
- Explore the complex links between disordered eating, obesity and mental health in people who have undergone metabolic surgery
- Consider current approaches to treatment and care in this area
Attendees are encouraged to read a recent update by Dr Conceição’s and team in the topic area and bring their questions for discussion.
