Beatriz Farinha, Spain

Beatriz Farinha, Spain

We are pleased to welcome Beatriz Farinha, PhD student in Biomedicine from Spain, to the ECN Board.

Beatriz is a PhD student in Biomedicine at the University of Córdoba, conducting her research at the Maimonides Institute for Biomedical Research of Córdoba (IMIBIC) within the GC11 Metabolism and Adipocyte Differentiation–Metabolic Syndrome group. She holds a Master’s degree in Biopharmaceutical Sciences and a Bachelor’s in Biochemistry from the University of Lisbon, with international research experience in Portugal and Spain.

Her research focuses on understanding how adipose tissue fibrosis and extracellular matrix remodelling contribute to obesity-associated liver diseases. Using 3D cellular models and patient-derived samples, Beatriz investigates the complex communication between adipose tissue and the liver to uncover mechanisms driving metabolic dysfunction and disease progression.

Beatriz is thrilled to join the EASO Early Career Network Board, where she aims to raise awareness of the impact of obesity on metabolic disease development and to foster collaboration, knowledge exchange, and networking among early career researchers across Europe.
