Basic and Discovery Science Working Group

The Basic and Discovery Science Working Group forms a network of European and international experts, working in basic and discovery science. 

The Basic and Discovery Science Working Group will comprise the following members:

  • 2 x Co-Chairs
  • Ex Officio – EASO Executive Director
  • Expert members shall recruited on a temporary basis for specific projects based on availability and relevant expertise

The Basic and Discovery Science (BDS) Working Group will form a network of European and international experts, working in basic and discovery science in the field of obesity and obesity related complications, offering expert opinion and input to EASO activities.

The BDS Working Group will report to the Executive Committee via its Co-Chairs who shall be invited from time to time to report to relevant Executive Committee meetings.

The permanent membership of the BDS Working Group will be appointed by the EASO Executive Committee and shall serve a term of 3 years. Each member may be appointed for a maximum of 2 full terms.

Terms of Reference

  • To provide a platform for discussion and learning related to basic and translational science in the field of obesity
  • To create a network of specialists in basis/discovery science in the field of obesity across the EASO member countries
  • To identify hot topics and areas of interest in the Basic Science of obesity.
  • To contribute to the development of Basic Science webinars and Masterclass, ECN and Teaching School programmes
  • To contribute to the development of ECO programmes via membership of the Programme Organising Committee (POC)
  • To develop topic specific Teaching Sessions and/or Symposia at each ECO
  • To contribute to EASO symposia and sessions at relevant partner society congresses where appropriate.
