La taxonomie de l'obésité de l'EASO comprend six thèmes : définition de l'obésité ; causes, facteurs d'apparition et de progression ; prévention de l'obésité ; dépistage et diagnostic précoce ; traitement et prise en charge ; conséquences de l'obésité. Les thèmes sont subdivisés en concepts, chaque concept étant lui-même décomposé en une définition, un champ d'application et un contexte.
The EASO taxonomy gives us a common language and provides a standardised and consistent framework for defining and classifying obesity. This ensures that all stakeholders, including healthcare providers, researchers, and policymakers, use the same language and criteria, reducing misunderstandings and inconsistencies in diagnosis and treatment. This will improve patient care.
Ce cadre permettra de poser un diagnostic précis de l'obésité et des comorbidités qui y sont associées. En comprenant les différentes catégories et caractéristiques de l'obésité, les professionnels de santé peuvent élaborer des plans de prise en charge de l'obésité plus ciblés et plus efficaces. Cette approche personnalisée peut améliorer les résultats pour les patients en répondant aux besoins spécifiques des différents groupes de patients.

The taxonomy will also help guide the research agenda and will be important for designing studies, collecting data, and interpreting results. The taxonomy provides a contemporary evidence-based language about obesity that aligns with language used for policy-prioritised NCDs. The taxonomy is useful for education, advocacy, and communication and can be used by policymakers, healthcare professionals, people living with obesity, researchers, and health system users.
