The 59th Nitra Medical Days, held on 4–5 November 2026 in Slovakia, placed obesity at the heart of its scientific programme, bringing together physicians, researchers and healthcare professionals to explore advances in obesity science and clinical care. The meeting highlighted the importance of recognising obesity as a chronic, relapsing disease requiring evidence-based diagnosis, individualised management and long-term, multidisciplinary care.

A particular highlight was the presentation of the prestigious Propter Merita Gold Medal to EASO Trustee and President of the Slovak Obesity Association, Professor Ľubomíra Fábryová, recognising her outstanding contributions to medicine. EASO warmly congratulates Ľubomíra on this well-deserved honour, celebrating her longstanding leadership and commitment to advancing obesity research, education and clinical care in Slovakia and across Europe. We also congratulate our Slovak colleagues on a successful scientific meeting.
