Association européenne pour l'étude de l'obésité – Annonce du prix Novo Nordisk Foundation Obesity Prize et des prix d'excellence scientifique

EASO is pleased to announce that the 2027 European Association for the Study of Obesity – Novo Nordisk Foundation Obesity Prize for Excellence and New Investigator Awards are open for nomination and application.

Le Prix d'excellence en matière d'obésité is a senior award that recognises outstanding research or technological contributions to the understanding of obesity, its aetiology, complications, prevention and treatment.  The prize is supported by a grant of DKK 2 million, of which DKK 300,000 is a personal grant to the winner. Application is by nomination, and Excellence Prize winners may not reapply.

We are also pleased to open applications for the EASO-Novo Nordisk Foundation New Investigator Awards in Basic Science, Clinical Research, Childhood Obesity and Public Health (4 separate awards). Each Award is accompanied by a DKK 300.000 research grant.

We urge eligible early career scientists interested in undertaking innovative new research to consider applying for a New Investigator award.

  • Each winner will be supported to attend and speak at a special award session at the 2027 EASO European Congress on Obesity (ECO) in Munich, which takes place 18-21 May.
  • Award winners will be invited to return to the ECO to discuss research undertaken via the award grant.

The Review Committee will grant the awards based on an application process and the following criteria:

  • Excellence and clear commitment to the chosen area of obesity research. In addition,
  • Les bénéficiaires auront obtenu leur doctorat au cours des cinq dernières années ou leur doctorat en médecine au cours des huit dernières années à compter de la date limite de dépôt des candidatures.
  • Recipients must work in a university, hospital, or another not-for-profit research institution in Europe throughout the 1-year award period.

Applicants may only apply for one Award.

The deadline for receipt of applications is Monday 14 December (23.59 GMT) 2026.

The Obesity Prize for Excellence and New Investigator Awards represent a collaboration between the European Association for the Study of Obesity (EASO) and the Novo Nordisk Foundation (NNF). EASO has established an independent Assessment Committee to review nominations and select successful candidates.  Financial support for the prize comes from the Novo Nordisk Foundation.
