L'importance de la diversité dans les essais cliniques sur l'obésité

Join the EASO Early Career Network (ECN) to examine why diversity in obesity clinical trials matters for generating evidence that ultimately supports and benefits the lives of people living with obesity, while also informing equity and clinical decision-making.

  • Date : Tuesday, 17 February 2026
  • Heure : 16h-17h au Royaume-Uni / 17h-18h à Paris

Dr Dimitri Pournaras (Consultant Upper Gastrointestinal and Bariatric Surgeon, Department of Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery, North Bristol National Health Service Trust, Bristol, UK and University of Bristol) will examine how trial population diversity influences the development, evaluation, and real-world use of obesity pharmacotherapy. The webinar will also highlight findings from a recent systematic review by Dr Pournaras’s team, offering timely insights for research, clinical practice, and policy.

The session will:

  • Outline why diverse trial populations are essential for delivering safe, effective, and equitable care that benefits people living with obesity
  • Highlight key patterns of over- and under-representation in obesity trials, drawing on systematic review evidence
  • Discuss implications for clinical practice, early-career research design, and policy or reimbursement decision-making

This webinar will include expert presentation followed by a live Q&A, moderated by the ECN Board. Early career clinicians, scientists, and public health professionals with an interest in obesity research and care are warmly invited to attend.

Registration is now open. Register to join the event.
