Supporting the safe and effective use of AI in cardiovascular care

CHAIN, the European Cardiovascular Health data and AI Network, is a three-year European collaboration coordinated by the European Society of Cardiology (ESC). CHAIN convenes 53 partners from 20 countries to help close the gap between promising AI systems and safe, effective and scalable use in cardiovascular care.

CHAIN aims to:

  • Connect health data and AI expertise across Europe
  • Test how AI can support cardiovascular care through six real-world use cases
  • Assess how AI can work safely and effectively for patients and healthcare professionals, including usability, fairness and explainability
  • Develop practical tools, guidance and training to support responsible use of AI in healthcare
  • Support wider adoption of trustworthy AI and the EU Safe Hearts Plan across European health systems

EASO participates in CHAIN as a professional society, bringing an obesity perspective and supporting the engagement of the European obesity community in the project’s work.
