Emil Hidayatli, Azerbaïdjan

Dr. Emil Hidayatli is a physician, Obesity Care Specialist, and clinical nutrition expert with more than 15 years of experience in private medical practice in Baku, Azerbaijan. He is deeply committed to raising awareness of obesity as a chronic, complex disease among both healthcare professionals and the wider community. His professional interests focus on addressing barriers to effective obesity management and advancing evidence-based approaches to the prevention and treatment of obesity.

Dr. Hidayatli graduated from Azerbaijan Medical University with a degree in Medicine and completed his internship training in Anesthesiology and Emergency Medicine. He subsequently gained more than five years of clinical experience in public and private hospitals, working across Intensive Care, Anesthesiology, and Toxicology departments.

In 2016, Dr. Hidayatli became Vice Chairman and a leading trainer and lecturer at the Academy of Nutrition, Dietetics and Obesity Prevention (ANDOP), contributing to professional education in nutrition and obesity management. In 2017, he completed postgraduate studies at the College of Contemporary Health in the United Kingdom and obtained a Postgraduate Certificate in Obesity Care and Management (PGCertOCM).

In addition to his medical and postgraduate education, Dr. Hidayatli holds an MBA from Azerbaijan State University of Economics. He has played an active role in the development and delivery of educational programs focused on comprehensive obesity management, including the biology and endocrine functions of adipose tissue, the role of cytokines and chronic inflammation, metabolic health, and multidisciplinary approaches to obesity care.

As an educator and speaker, he regularly delivers lectures and professional training sessions on the interrelationships between obesity, metabolic syndrome, insulin resistance, and metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MASLD) to healthcare professionals, educational institutions, and other organizations.

Dr. Hidayatli is also actively engaged in the international obesity community and is a member of the EASO Early Career Network Board. He is particularly interested in fostering collaboration among healthcare professionals and researchers and contributing to the development of more effective, patient-centered approaches to obesity prevention and management.
