The Adipose Organ: from Past Discoveries to Future Directions

Join the EASO Early Career Network (ECN) for an exploration of the adipose organ and its central role in metabolic health. This webinar will examine key discoveries that shape our understanding of adipose tissues, current insights into its role in obesity and related diseases, and future directions for research in the field.

  • Date: Tuesday, 20 October 2026
  • Heure : 16h-17h Royaume-Uni / 17h-18h Paris

Professor Saverio Cinti (Center for Obesity, Marche Polytechnic University, Italy; Affiliated Professor at the University of Copenhagen; Distinguished Professor Emeritus at the University of Bonn) will provide an overview of the major discoveries that established the adipose organ as a key regulator of metabolic health and discuss how research in this field continues to shape our understanding of obesity and metabolism.

Professor Cinti is internationally recognized for his pioneering contributions to biology of adipose tissues and for advancing the concept of the adipose organ. His work has significantly shaped the current understanding of adipose tissues function in health and disease.

The learning outcomes of this session are to:

  • Understand the key discoveries that established the adipose organ as a central regulator of metabolic health
  • Describe current insights into biology of adipose tissues in obesity and related diseases
  • Consider future challenges and opportunities in adipose tissues research

This webinar will include a presentation from Professor Cinti followed by a moderated Q&A. ECN Board members will chair the session and provide a brief update on ECN activities.
