It is Time to Change the Way We Care about Obesity

Since 2015, the US Obesity Action Coalition (OAC), American Society of Metabolic Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), the Obesity Medicine Association (OMA), The Obesity Society (TOS) and the STOP Obesity Alliance have joined together as Founding Champions of National Obesity Care Week (NOCW) to Change the Way We Care about obesity.

The founding champions have worked with Partners, other non-profit Champions and thousands of invested individuals to spread awareness about the importance of providing science-based education on obesity and advocating for access to care. From in-person visits on Capitol Hill to social media posts and sharing information about obesity facts and science and even receiving donated surgeries in honour of NOCW, this event week is one of great excitement and opportunity.

NCOW2018 takes place from October 7th to 13th. Each day will address a specific issue of particular interest to our communities, such as weight bias and bariatric surgery, and the final day will focus on patient stories. NCOW partners and champions work together to share information, educational materials and targeted actions with thousands of people around the globe.

As a society, we focus on our core beliefs to create change.

By taking the NOCW pledge, you are opting-in to help spread awareness by taking ACTION during NOCW. Your actions and the actions of all those involved in NOCW2018 play a vital role in changing the way the world views and treats obesity.
