Riccardo Dalle Grave

Dr Riccardo Dalle Grave completed his degree in Medicine at the University of Verona, Italy in 1983. He completed the specialization in Endocrinology at the University of Veronain 1985, and the specialization in Nutrition Science at the University of Modenain 1989. He completed his studies with a four year specialization in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy at the Associazione Psicologia Cognitiva at Rome in 1999.

He started at the Department of Eating and Weight Disorders – Villa Garda Hospital in 1985 and in 1992 became head of the department. The department includes 18 inpatients beds and 14 day-care beds for eating disorder patients, and 20 beds for patients with severe obesity, and an outpatient service for eating disorder and obesity.

Over the past 20 years, he has published 90 papers in international peer-reviewed journals, about 100 papers in Italian, 25 books in Italian, and written one book in the US on the intensive cognitive behaviour of eating disorder, and chapters in four leading books on eating disorders and obesity. He has published in prestigious journals including the International Journal of Eating Disorders, International Journal of Obesity, Journal of Internal Medicine, Obesity, Journal of Obesity, Journal of the American Dietetic Association, Behaviour Research and Therapy, Psychiatric Research, European Psychiatric Review, European Journal of Internal Medicine, Comprehensive Psychiatry, Obesity Surgery, Hepatology, Psychoneuroendocrinology, Appetite, and Clinical Nutrition.

He is a member of the editorial board of European Eating Disorder Review, Eating and Weight Disorder, and Journal of Eating Disorders, and editor of the Italian journals Emozioni e Cibo. In 2012 he became a member of the board and treasurer of the Italian Society for Obesity (SIO).
