Emilia Axiotidou is a Family Systemic Counsellor and Psycho-educationist and she is, from September 2009 till present, a non-payroll scientific partner at the outpatient clinic of Obesity & Metabolism of the 1st Propaedeutic Department of Internal Medicine of the AHEPA University Hospital accredited by the European Association for the Study of Obesity. The collaboration with Emilia Axiotidou began in 2009 as she was a graduate of the University of Studies of Perugia, Faculty of Education, Psycosociopedagogy, as well as from the School of philosophy of the Aristotle University, Department of Education Philosophy and Psychology and is still active today. Mrs. Axiotidou specializes in the Systemic and Family Psychotherapy. She is also a distinguished member of the European Association for Counseling (EAC) and of the Greek Association of Counseling.
She has also been trained in the course “Psychopathology and therapeutic approaches for the prenatal and adolescent ages” in collaboration with the Scientific Association for the Care of Children and Adolescents (SY.ME.PE) and the Hellenic Society for the Infant Mental Health. She continues her education on the Emotional Focus Therapy (EFT) by Sue Johnson (ICEEFT).
Mrs. Axiotidou’s presence in the Obesity & Metabolism Outpatient Clinic occurs every Wednesday. The approach she follows is that of the model of Systemic Family Therapy in combination with cognitive behavioral interventions.
Currently she has completed approximately 850 hours of counselling in the Obesity & Metabolism Clinic of AHEPA Hospital and she has dealt with a sample of approximately 200 patients. The tasks that Mrs. Axiotidou carries out are: recording the medical history of patients, systemic cases, cognitive behavioral interventions in combination with family systemic interventions and systemic recheck of the patients.
She, also, participates in data collection of research protocols taking place in the 1st Propaedeutic Department of Internal Medicine and the Obesity & Metabolism Clinic of the AHEPA University Hospital, which was presented at the 8th Pan-Hellenic Obesity Conference (March 18-20, 2010) under the title: “The role of Acupuncture in Dealing with Severe Obesity: A case-study”, Katsikis N., Dimitroula Ch., Tatola V., Belicani M., Daskalopoulou E., Aksiotidou E., Savvopoulos Ch. and Chatzitolios A.
She is also keeps a private practice, dealing with individuals, families, couples, children, adolescents and groups, and cooperating with schools and other organizations.
