Pr Alain Golay has been Professor in Medicine at the Service of Therapeutic Education for chronic diseases, University Hospital, Geneva, Switzerland, since 1993 and head of the service since 2003. His main interest in research is particularly in the field of insulin resistance, diabetes, obesity, patient education and psychology.
Pr Golay graduated in medicine in 1980 from the University of Lausanne, Switzerland, and subsequently became a Research and Clinical Fellow in the Department of Endocrinology, Stanford University, California, USA.
During his career, Pr Golay has published more than 450 articles in the diabetes, obesity and patient education areas and has received various awards for his contribution to medical research.
He is currently president of the European Society of Therapeutic Patient Education.
