Napoli, Italy: 2-4 September 2019

We are pleased to announce the 2019 EASO Early Career Network Autumn School. This residential educational course open to early career researcher/practitioners took place in Napoli, Italy from 2-4 September 2019.

The programme for 2019 focused on ‘Hot Topics in Obesity’ with sessions addressing key issues in research, treatment and public health. Teaching was interactive and delivered by European experts, and included both lectures and practical training. Poster sessions formed an important part of the school, allowing participants to present and discuss their own work with senior colleagues.

Upon completion of the course, participants received a thorough grounding in obesity and learnt new skills to develop their research or clinical practice.

Learning Outcomes

  • Appreciate patient perspectives and the significant issues of stigma and weight bias.
  • Appreciate the various mechanisms underpinning obesity, and understand latest basic science developments.
  • Recognise that obesity has a multifactorial aetiology and multiple health consequences.
  • Appreciate clinical evaluation techniques and be cognisant of the effectiveness of various interventions.
  • Be familiar with a variety of tools and methods that can assist and enhance the implementation of weight management programmes.
  • Appreciate various public health challenges, and understand techniques to develop interventions.

EASO offers 30 places for this prestigious course, it is therefore important that you provide as much information possible in your submission. There is no registration fee and EASO will provide hotel accommodation and all meals for successful applicants.
